Strategic Thinking in Action: My Approach to Creative Problem Solving

Every project presents unique challenges; strategic thinking is the bridge that turns these challenges into opportunities.

One of my key achievements was spearheading the adoption of Canva at Delphix.com and SustainableIT.org, where I developed over 1,000 custom templates to streamline brand consistency and accelerate creative workflows—a contribution recognized by Canva for its innovation and impact on our team’s productivity.

When my manager introduced Canva as a solution to help our lean design team scale, I immediately recognized both the potential benefits and challenges. Anticipating onboarding hurdles, I proactively developed a comprehensive tutorial and utilized Slack as a feedback loop. This allowed team members to share their experiences, ensuring I could quickly address issues and efficiently refine the process.

I spearheaded the project by organizing and uploading all brand assets, along with commonly used diagrams for collateral and presentations, ensuring that our marketing team had seamless access to cohesive, brand-aligned templates. But I didn’t stop there—understanding that onboarding could be complex, I designed the tutorial to streamline the learning process and promote smooth adoption.

The results of the Canva integration were genuinely transformative. The onboarding tutorial I developed empowered team members to become proficient in Canva quickly, significantly reducing the need for my direct involvement in onboarding and training. This freed up my time and the design team’s resources, allowing us to concentrate on more significant, high-impact projects. Additionally, workflow efficiency improved, and brand consistency was upheld across various outputs, preventing bottlenecks within the creative team.

This experience reaffirmed my belief in the power of strategic thinking. By anticipating potential roadblocks, building supportive frameworks, and leveraging real-time feedback via Slack, I crafted a solution that solved an immediate challenge and elevated the team’s capabilities. It paved the way for more impactful work and demonstrated the potential of strategic thinking in our future projects.
